Banff Alberta Is the Cultural Center Of A Mountain Paradise.
Banff Alberta is a mountain resort that encompasses every possible outdoor activity as well as exceptional educational facilities.
No matter how often you go there or what time of the year it is, the scenery is unbelievably spectacular and the seasonal activities are always as plentiful as the trees in the forests.
One of the most interesting things you can do is a
boat tour on Lake Minnewanka
which is just 15 minutes from Banff.
You'll probably see wildlife and most certainly some of the most spectacular scenery.
Of course many people enjoy kayaking or canoeing and the possibilities are endless with canoe rentals right at the Bow River in Banff.
Others enjoy a
Nature Float
made available through the Canadian Rockies Rafting Company.
Then there are dozens of
Trail Rides
to choose from. Some are in the morning complete with breakfast, and others in the evening with a BBQ steak, beans and all the trimmings.
And for those who really want to get the feel of the mountains and the great outdoors, there are rides lasting from 2 to 6 days.
You need a fairly long stay in the Banff area to take in all the possible sightseeing tours that are available.
I really am impressed with a new GyPSy Guide which is a small device that you can rent from the
“Discover Banff Tours”
store in the Sundance Mall located at 215 Banff Avenue.
This small piece of technology can be plugged into your car stereo.
It will automatically play commentary as you arrive at points along your day's travel, telling you about the beautiful scenery, interesting stories of past explorers, advice on where to watch for wildlife, advance notice of important intersections and quirky tales of Canadiana.
All prepared and presented by professional local tour guides.
Yes ...now you have the pleasure and freedom of taking yourself on your own driving tour while learning the significance of what you are seeing.
Technology is a good thing!
Oh... where was I?
Tours, Trail Rides.....
How about something a bit more exiting?
Whitewater Rafting
is not for the faint at heart.
Of course the safety and enjoyment are paramount and all participants are properly outfitted with wet suits, booties and paddle gear and the professional guides will on safety procedures and paddling techniques.

Still... it's not for everyone as you can well imagine.
If you are one who does not take to the water, perhaps you should consider a
Helicopter Sightseeing Tour
The tours are geared for first time fliers as well as more experienced fliers.
I can assure you that you'll never forget the experience.
Finally, for those who don't like the water or the high flying, may I suggest a trip to the summit of Sulpher Mountain in the very comfortable 4-seat enclosed Swiss built
Gondola
an get a birds eye view of six mountain ranges.

There is a great dining experience at the upper terminal and a wonderful roof-top observation deck providing you with a 360 degrees view.
A really great experience, particularly on a clear day.
While there are many more attractions in and around Banff, I am going to suggest that at the end of the day you will really appreciate relaxing in the
Hot Springs
This premier attraction features a lot more than the Hot Pool itself.
Come, visit and enjoy this fabulous and soothing place.
There is so much more to tell you about bike rides, sled-dogs, Stables, Hoodoos, Museums and The Banff Center and I'll do it soon.
