Bed and Breakfast
Accommodations in Calgary

Bed and Breakfast Inns in Calgary provide a welcome change for you  if you’re tired of high-rise hotels with look-alike rooms and assembly-line service.

These establishments provide visitors with a comfortable, homey atmosphere, and even those found amid the urban bustle of downtown Calgary enjoy an air of small-town intimacy.

Calgary’s bed and breakfast inns reflect the city’s cultural diversity, spanning a range of styles that includes historic Victorian homes, newly built houses, and rustic hobby ranches.

Calgary’s Airporter Shuttle Express Ltd. serves dozens of inns, providing twenty-four-hour, door-to-door van service to and from the airport at reasonable prices.

Generally, room rates decline as the length of stay increases, but discounts don’t apply to accommodations during the Calgary Stampede.

There are seasonal price fluctuations, with off-peak times offering visitors cheaper rates and a better chance of finding a vacancy in one of these charming buildings.

All that charm sacrifices size, with some inns having as few as two or three guest rooms, so it’s important to book as early as possible if you’re keen on a particular place.

Online travel directories allow you to zero in on the style and location you want and then locate an inn that matches your price range.

Below is just a small sampling of the bed and breakfast options Calgary offers (note that prices are approximate and subject to change).

Kensington Bed and Breakfast is a Victorian home located in the historic Kensington district of downtown Calgary.

Its five rooms include a garden cottage and accommodations with a garden view.

The city’s restaurants, theaters, museums, parks, and transportation lines are nearby, and the inn offers bicycles and bicycle path maps to visitors who wish to explore the city on two wheels.

Amenities include a complete gourmet breakfast and access to a guest kitchen. Rates range from 90-150 Canadian dollars (76-127 American dollars).

Visitors traveling with children are welcome at Calgary Modern Bed and Breakfast, which sits in a quiet, lush neighborhood twenty minutes away from downtown Calgary and only fifteen minutes away from Canada Olympic Park and Bowes Park.

Guests can take advantage of a first-class golf course across the road, and children can ride bicycles, play tennis, or have fun in the area’s large playgrounds.

The inn serves hot breakfasts, and rates for its three rooms fall in the range of 70-110 Canadian dollars (59-93 American dollars).

Adults without children in tow can visit Calgary City View Bed and Breakfast, a roomy home conveniently located just minutes from downtown Calgary.

Two of the three bedrooms have fireplaces and private balconies, with a panoramic view that includes Bow River, the Canadian Rocky Mountains, and the Calgary Stampede grounds.

The lounge features a baby grand piano and a fireplace. The staff speaks French and English, and rates are 75-175 Canadian dollars.

If you’re hankering for a taste of down-home ranch life, Hilltop Ranch Bed and Breakfast may be the answer.

Located halfway between Calgary and Bragg Creek, the year-round hobby ranch is nestled in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies amid a park-like setting that’s perfect for nature walks.

There are boarding and exercise facilities for guests’ horses, and the ranch is close to Spruce Meadows, Calgary’s world-class equestrian show jumping center, as well as Kananaskis Country and Elbow Falls.

Visitors can enjoy a continental or ranch-style breakfast, and room rates are from 70-120 Canadian dollars for a single and 90-149 Canadian dollars for a double.

Whatever your idea of home is, you’re likely to find it in a Calgary bed and breakfast inn.
