Bragg Creek used to be a quaint village 40 km west of Calgary.

But Bragg Creek with all it's natural beauty is also affected by the population explosion in Calgary and Alberta as a whole and finds it more and more difficult to stop the “big box stores” from moving in.

Not all that long ago it was a nice drive into the country from Calgary.

But I am sorry to say, that the country has shrunk because both Calgary and Bragg Creek keep expanding, and the country between them is being filled with golf courses, subdivisions and acreages with multi million dollar estates.

On the east site the hamlet borders on the T'suu Tina Nation and on the north basically on crown land.

Fortunately the hamlet is bordered on the west and south by Kananaskis Country , which is a 4000 sq. km recreational area that includes several Provincial Parks.

In essence, it is the gateway to

Kananaskis Country with all the scenery and summer and winter recreation anyone could ever hope for.

Some of these activities include: Camping, Hiking ,Fishing, Trail Riding, Rafting, Mountain Biking, Golfing in the summer.

Add to that the winter sports such as : Cross Country Skiing, Downhill skiing, Dog Sledding, Snow Shoeing, Nordic Skiing, Winter Hiking, Snowmobiling and then add Caving as well as Climbing and Wildlife Viewing, and you'll be busy all year 'round.

Well I think that covers most of it, but for those who are a little less inclined to participate in all that outdoor stuff, let me tell you that there are fantastic facilities to provide you with all the indoor comfort and dining you can handle.

So, you can see that there are many reasons to head over to Bragg Creek any time of the year and take in some of the activities
