Many Business Headquarters In Calgary Make this City Very Unique.

There was a time when Calgary Business was primarily known for it's Oil and Gas development.

And of course with it's nickname “Cow Town” there is a strong reminder of the cattle trade that was so prominent in years gone by.

The Calgary Exhibition and Stampede is a constant reminder of this aspect of the Agricultural Sector, which is, to this day, a very important segment of Calgary's Business.

But in recent years, Calgary has become home to an increasing amount of Corporate Headquarters, and as a result the city's economic base has been substantially diversified.

Nevertheless Calgary Business draws an increasing number of people because of the energy Sector.

Mainly because of the Tar Sands development, which draws a multitude of workers of all kinds to the Fort McMurray area, Calgary jobs go begging to be filled.

It should be said that the Energy Sector is still the biggest draw for both skilled and unskilled labor.

Drilling Jobs appear to be the more sought after and are probably the best paying (and somewhat romanticized) jobs, at least with the younger workers.

As a result of this migration there are now all kinds of job vacancies in Calgary .

While this Business Page does not do justice to what is really happening in the new frontier, it should give you an idea of what's going on, and should at least alert you to some obvious difficulties you can expect, such as

a shortage of adequate housing,

and increasing real estate values.

But life is good out here and there is no limit to what an entrepreneurial spirit can achieve.

A clear sign of the prosperity around here is reflected in the cars people drive.

Lately, and in spite of the ever increasing cost of a litre of gasoline, we see a large number of HUMMERS around here, as well as the more trendy, but equally expensive BMW.

The enormous expansion that has been happening in Calgary and the surrounding areas, (which apparently will continue for some years to come), has made the work of The Calgary Parking Authority very challinging, but as you'll see, they are caplable of handling the problems and continue to add innovative ways to accommodate the growing demands from the increasing numbers of motorists.

Another welcome and very beneficial spin-off from this economic activity is the increased support for Calgary charities from the corporate community , as well as the citizens as a whole.

Just reflect on the amount of money raised in support of Breast Cancer Research by the 30 hours of "Are you Tough Enough To Wear Pink" campaign by the Calgary Stampede.

The general support was awesome, to say the least.

Finally the

CALGARY STAMPEDERS defended their title on November 29-2009 at McMahon Stadium.

Unfortunately they were unable to hold on to the title and after a spirited effort relinquished it to the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

The City hosted all the GREY CUP celebrations in a style that can only be fashioned by Calgarians, who are renowned for doing these kind of things in a truly memorable and western style.

Thanks for visiting partner and come back often.
