Calgary attractions are sooo plentiful

that I hardly know which one of the many Calgary attractions to tell you about first.

Before I even get started on this, let me point you to a great view of the city.

Now let me tell you about 2 outstanding historic sites.

I) FORT CALGARY
One of the Calgary attractions is an easy walk from the centre of Calgary and on the east side, where a great deal of development will be happening in the next few years.

It’s located on the original site of the NORT WEST MOUNTED POLICE who established it in the late 1800 to help control the liquor trade.

The Fort has been reconstructed and is situated on about 40 acres along the river, and you’ll find the usual visitor accommodations

Click here for all the details.

Another one of the most visited Calgary attractions is

2) HERITAGE PARK

This is a fabulous park that occupies about 65 acres and it is about to double in size. I believe that the expansion work has already begun.

This village tries to replicate the “good old days” and as such you’ll find an abundance of historical buildings and artifacts.

The park is situated in the south west of the city on the Glenmore Reservoir, which makes it possible to take a boat ride on an authentic Sternwheeler.

Of course you can also take advantage of other types of transportation such as a street car, or a steam engine, or a horse drawn carriage.

Not too long ago my father-in-law (who used to handle teams of oxen when he was working in the lumber business in Nova Scotia) was asked if he’d like to show the visitors how to run the BLACK SMITH SHOP.

Of course he declined since he was retired and was just enjoying the many exhibits that bring back the memories, both good and bad, of the days gone by.

You just have to see it for yourself. It will be time well spent.

You can get more detailed information here.

If you like the outdoors and wildlife in general, there are parks galore and some of the major ones are briefly identified here. There are a lot more Calgary attractions to be seen and experienced and I’ll be telling you about most of the sites on other pages.

Just check out my

And while you are still here, please have a look at Spruce Meadows which is a place you defenitely do not want to miss while you are in Calgary.
