Calgary Attractions Are Sooo Plentiful
I hardly know which one of the many Calgary attractions to tell you about first.
Before I even get started on this, let me point you to
a great view of the city.
Now let me tell you about 2 outstanding historic sites.
1) FORT CALGARY
One of the Calgary attractions is an easy walk from the centre of Calgary and on the east side, where a great deal of development will be happening in the next few years.
It’s located on the original site of the NORT WEST MOUNTED POLICE who established it in the late 1800 to help control the liquor trade.
The Fort has been reconstructed and is situated on about 40 acres along the river, and you’ll find the usual visitor accommodations

here
for all the details.
Another one of the most visited Calgary attractions is
2) HERITAGE PARK
This is a fabulous park that occupies well over 65 acres and just about doubled in size with the latest addition that was just completed.
Wow! There is something for every member of the family to enjoy.
Make sure you come early as it will take you a full day to take it all in.
This park tries to replicate the “good old days” and as such you’ll find an abundance of historical buildings and artifacts.
The park is situated in the south west of the city on the Glenmore Reservoir, which makes it possible to take a boat ride on an authentic Sternwheeler.
Of course you can also take advantage of other types of transportation such as a street car, or a steam engine, or a horse drawn carriage.
Not too long ago my father-in-law (who used to handle teams of oxen when he was working in the lumber business in Nova Scotia) was asked if he’d like to show the visitors how to run the BLACK SMITH SHOP.
Of course he declined since he was retired and was just enjoying the many exhibits that bring back the memories, both good and bad, of the days gone by.
You just have to see it for yourself. It will be time well spent.
You can get more detailed information
