The Calgary Canoe Club Has Got Something To Offer For Men, Women, And Children of All Ages.
The
Calgary canoe club
is one organization of interest that will always have something to offer for those people out there who take an interest in boating and canoeing.
The canoe club, is an establishment of young men and women and adults alike who take an interest in not only staying in excellent shape, but being a bit competitive with it at the same time.
There are several programs for people who are interested in becoming a part of the Calgary canoe club.
For one, there is a Youth program for kids who are 14 years of age and younger, who want to learn to canoe or kayak or already know how to do so and are interested in taking a stab at sprinting.
There are skilled instructors available to take them each and every step of the way and teach them what it takes to do the sport efficiently and safely.
Next up as far as age goes, there is a youth bracket of the club for young men and women who range between 14 and 18 years of age.
There is a Junior Kayak school for kids of this age, as well as basic classes teaching how to paddle and row, and then a full time sprinting program for students of this age bracket as well.
Of course there is the Adult branch of the Calgary canoe club in which all types of adults over the age of 18 take part in the many lessons and adventures that the Calgary canoe club has to offer.
There is a Marathon program (or Outrigger program) and a Masters Sprint program for adults that participate in the program as well, setting the standards a bit apart from those of the Youth program.
Lessons and activities are divided into two sections.
There is a seasonal portion of training where students do their exercises on the water. From early spring to late fall as the weather permits, of course.
There is also a non-seasonal portion of training which is done on dry land, due to the changes in weather in Calgary during the off-season.
One of the public highlights each year is the
Calgary Dragonboat Festival
which will be held on August 8th and 9th of 2009 on the Glenmore Reservoir as usual.
