Professional And Amateur Sports
Are Very Big In Calgary.

Calgary winter and summer sports have facilities that are the envy of most cities across the land.

The fortunate position is, to a large degree, the result of The Olympic Winter Games that were held here.

The enthusiasm that was created during those games, spread around all aspects of sport and as a result Calgary now is in the enviable position to have world class facilities to accomedate whatever your game may be.

Let's have a look at some of the teams and the facilities.

The Calgary Flames Hockey team

The Hitmen Hockey Team

Both teams are operating in the the Pengrowth Saddledome.

Also playing in the Dome are the Calgary Roughnecks , an excellent Lacrosse Team.

The Calgary Canucks make their home at the Max Bell Centre.

The Calgary Jr. "A" Royals are working in the Father David Bauer Olympic Arena

And while we are talking about facilities, let's have a look what Canada Olympic Park has to offer.

Few cities can compete with what is available for Professional and Amateur athletes alike, and it is a great place for family fun and it attracts a lot of visitors all year long.

Add to this the spectacular Olympic Oval located on the U of C campus, which contains:

a) A 400 m long-track speed skating oval

b) two international-sized ice rinks for short-track speed skating and ice hockey,

c) a 450 m running track surrounding the main oval,

d) an eight-lane 110 m sprint track,

e) a pole vault box and a long-jump pit for year-round athletics training.

An impressive world class facility that is also the home of the National Women's Hockey League champion Calgary Oval X-Treme.

And west of Calgary you'll find that the Canmore Nordic Center adds another dimension to winter sports such as exhilarating cross-country outings on over 60 kilometers of world-class cross-country and biathlon trail systems.

Then there are all kinds of Baseball teams and Soccer teams and Volleyball teams.

As we all know the SOCCERDOME and the VOLLEYDOME allow playing all year long. When you think you've seen it all, you can think again.

We also have Race City to cater to the Motorsport enthusiasts.

I know I have only touched on the most obvious sports and facilities, and if you need to know about anything specific, please use the form below to send me your question(s), and I'll do my best to find you the answers .
