The Bow Is Calgary And Western Canada’s Tallest Building

"The Bow" skyscraper, a 59 floors office building, still under construction in Calgary, has officially become the tallest building in Western Canada when they installed a 14 meter girder that reaches the 57th floor.

The building gets the name because of it’s crescent shape as well as it’s view of the River.

The skyscraper is now (July 9-2010) 218 meters tall and will reach it’s full heights later this fall at 236 meters.

There are some quick facts related to this exciting downtown addition.

There will be 1.9 million square feet of rentable space. as well as 1400 car parking spaces and 420 bicycle parking spaces in a 6 level parkade spanning 2 city blocks.

The building covers 2 city blocks in downtown Calgary and there will be 2 floors of retail space and 3 floors with gardens that are so-called Sky-lobbies serving the express elevators.

Check out this video for more details about Calgary’s tallest building.
