There are not as many jobs
in Calgary right now

but even with fewer available jobs in Calgary, with the right attitude and qualifications, you can still benefit from today's some what diminished "black gold" rush.

The "help wanted' signs are no longer showing up every where you look, which makes finding available jobs in Calgary a lot more challenging.

However there should be no doubt that if you are considering a move to the Calgary area,

1)you should have already arranged for employment or

2)have certain skills that will enable you to obtain work quickly after your arrival.

If that is not the case, I strongly recommend that you do some prelimenary work in this area before traveling here, because you do not want to wind up homeless.

SIDE BAR

Many young people get introduced to the oilfield business through drilling rig jobs.

There are over 1 million people in Calgary with newcomers arriving each and every day, resulting in a tremendous shortage of permanent accommodations and what is here is EXPENSIVE.

The average house price in Calgary now is approximately $425.000.

END SIDE BAR

Besides the usual government agencies there are a great many privately owned employment agencies with job listings in any imaginable field of work.

Add to that the daily newspapers and look especially for trade related publications (where applicable).

Of course large corporations should be contacted directly through their HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT and whenever possible you should be registered online with a number of agencies as well.

More than 35 years ago, I placed just 1 (one) add in a job related monthly which quickly resulted in tripling my income while the new employer paid for all my moving expenses.

You've got to take the bull by the horns and do the work yourself to get the best and quickest results. Blow your own horn. LOUDLY.

In today's environment with tremendous shortages of qualified workers in all areas of employment a little ingenuity and savvy will get you to the front of the line in a hurry and you'll get the benefits to match.

I recommend that you read this page to get a better insite of the existing opportunities and wages
