Calgary Healthcare As Such Does Not Really Exist.

Since healthcare is a Provincial responsibility, this leads us to the Calgary Health District.

So we are talking about Alberta Health Care and that comes with a price.

Alberta is the richest province in the country and also still finds it necessary the extract Healthcare Premiums from it's citizens.

Only seniors are exempted from paying.

It would appear to me to be an unfair tax levied against those who can least afford it.

Fortunately there is no provincial sales tax in Alberta and that helps to alleviate the cost of everything including healthcare.

The Provincial Tories have elected a new leader who became Premier of the Province on December 11-2006 and he now has a 2 year mandate to establish himself in this position before he must call an election, and it is believed that he will abolish these premiums in the not too distant future.

As far as Calgary is concerned, there is a brand new and state of the art Alberta Children's Hospital in the north west, as well as the Foothills Hospital and the ground work for a new hospital in the south east corner of the city will start in the spring of 2007 , with completion target in 2010.

In the meantime the Rockeyview Hospital is being enlarged by two Patient-care Units, expanded Emergency Department and increased Operating Room capacity, and all of this should be completed in 2 years time.

In the north east section the Peter Loughheed Hospital is also undergoing significant expansion at a cost of $233 Million at this time.

Also the Sheldon Chumir Centre is already under construction on 12th Avenue to take care of those who work, visit and live in Calgary’s downtown.

As with all sectors of the Alberta economy, the challenge will be to find qualified staff to fill all the positions required.

The Federal Government has just announced that it is spending an additional $40 million to assist new immigrants to acquire the necessary training to bring their skills up to par with Canadian standards.

There are of course Provincial Health Centers throughout Calgary and in nearby communities such as the one that is located in Sundance to take care of the bulk of services that do not warrant hospital admission.

For a complete list of all Calgary and area facilities go directly to: Calgary Health Region Alberta healthcare spending will be the highest in Canada at just over $ 4900.00 per person which is 24% more than Quebec at just over $ 3900.00

Healthcare costs in Calgary and elsewhere continue to take up a larger slice of the budget year after year.

Everyone knows that online shopping is accelerating at an enormous pace.

Does it not make sense to buy on your own mall with millions of products in well over 1000 stores?

Of course it does!....and look at the benefits you get:
