Shopping in Calgary.
Yah, shopping here used to be a pretty straight forward and easy thing to do.
That was before the city started to spread out to the point where it's footprint is now equal to that of New York City.
Of course there are not as many people in Calgary and there in lies the problem.
Not too many years ago there were basically 3 major locations and these 3 are still going strong, and they are:
The North Hill Mall
The Chinook Mall
The Down Town Spots
Then in the first really big boom around early 1980 the developers moved in and as the city expanded and they added
The Sunridge Mall
The Southcentre Mall
The Market Mall
More recent additions are:
Bankers Hall
Eau Claire Market
The Marda Loop area
and the 17th Avenue SW area
and the 4th Street SW area
Another fun area is the Inglewood area.
Oh, let's not forget the
Mount Royal Village Shops
Then a few years ago we added
Deerfoot Meadows Area
with a great line-up of big box stores.
I know I have not mentioned a number of specialty and regional areas at this time such as the Co-op Centres and the 32nd Avenue NE or 130th avene SE, as well as the 17th avenue SE locations, where there are a lot of ethnic and other specialty stores.
Now, as half of a $1 billion development, the largest mall built in Western Canada in the past 20 years opened in August of 2009 and it will change your your experience forever.
It's called CrossIron Mills and you just have to check it out!
This activity is as wide spread as the city itself and while some enjoy this, there are those of us who think it's insane.
In todays economic circumstances, many people are interested in making some extra money online, and if that appeals to you I suggest that you
check out this link.
