Spruce Meadows, The Place Where The Worlds Best Show Jumping Is Showcased

Spruce Meadows, now a world class facility, had it's humble beginnings in 1976 when it held it's first tournament and had probably less than 50 spectators.
But look at it now!
Over 70 countries around the world, and a television audience of around 700 million will benefit every year from over 25 televised programs that originate here.
At the same time attendance at the major events now runs up to 50.000 spectators per day.
The 300 acres that hold this fabulous facility is located on the south side of Calgary on Spruce-Meadows-Trail ( a portion of Highway 22X )and welcomes visitors every day of the year.
There are some 300 permanent horse stalls and during special events and tournaments they expand this with 400 temporary stalls to hold 700 horses and more as needed.
As the shows go on, there is also a real international flavor added by providing the many exhibits representing a variety of countries around the world.
You can easily spend an entire day by just visiting all the added attractions.
While show jumping is the primary activity, Spruce Meadows now has the capability to hold large conventions and can cater to all kinds of special events, from weddings to corporate meetings and conventions.
Of course there is an ongoing breeding program as well,
and the general public is welcomed to participate in the annual
Name The Foal contest
which is a wonderfull way to engage the horse jumping enthusiasts.
Throughout the year and on special occasions you can have an interesting shopping experience at Spruce Meadows.
